Albania: First live show takes place tonight

The 61st edition of Albania's national selection process begins tonight with 13 participants taking to the stage.



Festivali i Këngës 61 will have four live televised shows held in Tirana on 19, 20 21 and 22 December 2022. All being broadcast on national television channel RTSH 1.


Unlike previous years, The 2023 Albanian Eurovision entry and act will be determined by 100% of the public vote via televoting. In the past a combination of public and jury voting has chosen the winner to represent the nation.


There are 26 competitors in total and no-one will be eliminated from tonight's broadcast, but will be allowed to present their entry again in the Grand Final on the 22nd December. Those taking part tonight are as follows:

Eurovision History: ALBANIA

Albania first participated in the contest in 2004. It has yet to win the competition. The country's best result in the contest until 2012 when Rona Nishliu placed 5th. Every year, Festivali i Këngës is used as the Albanian Eurovision Song Contest national selection process. The show has been running since 1962. Albania has also participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest eight times since 2012.
