France: La Zarra will sing at Eurovision 2023

National selection process put on hold, as France goes for gold once again by internally selecting Canadian born singer La Zarra as their artist.

Today, France Télévisions Eurovision team announced that La Zarra will sing for the country in Liverpool. Sadly, this also confirms what many believed would see an end to their very well received national final selection programme.

In June, La Zarra shared her song Tu t’en iras, gaining a huge new following which saw this go above 18 million views online. Bold and ready for the next challenge, La Zarra is heading to Liverpool for Eurovision 2023.

Speaking to the press, she says:

I am very proud to have the chance to perform my song in front of millions of viewers around the world. I am a great admirer of the most beautiful French voices such as Edith Piaf, Barbara, Dalida but also Céline Dion and I am so excited to make all Europeans discover my song which I hope will become theirs. I am very honored to represent France at Eurovision, the most iconic song contest in the world.

A contemporary artist that is sure to do well in the competition and clearly will be well received by the French public, the team behind the choice of La Zarra said:

From our first meeting, La Zarra won us over! What an honor to welcome this great artist in the Eurovision family!

Alexandra Redde-Amiel, the Head of the French delegation continued saying:

Mysterious, inspiring, charismatic, La Zarra is a woman and a modern artist with a so chic French signature! A voice that transports us through time by making us travel to different eras … From Barbara through Brel or Dalida to Marylin Monroe, La Zarra is an iconic artist who will carry the colours of France in Liverpool in May 2023 during the largest song contest in the world.
La Zarra revealed by her song “Tu t’en iras” which met a large success with the French public, is preparing to conquer the heart of Europe. So after 2 victories at the Junior Eurovision, the last one a few weeks ago in Armenia thanks to Lissandro, we want more than ever to continue to make France proud! So why not dream again of Victory!

After winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in December, could France make it a double? Whilst we await to hear the song chosen by La Zarra, you can get a feel of her vibes below by listening to Sans Moi.
