Australia: Singer wants Eurovision 2020 in London!

Before the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 got underway in Tel Aviv, Australian representative, Kate Miller-Heidke has stated that she would love to see the contest held in London next year if her nation wins.

Kate Miller-Heidke hopes to win ESC2019

Under the rules of Australia's participation in the contest, the national broadcaster SBS would be required to nominate a country to host the event in their honour. SBS would be responsible for the production of the contest along side their counterparts which in this case would be the BBC. According to reports, SBS has eyed up Paris, Berlin and London as possible hosts cities for the contest should Australia win. The closest they have come to do so was with Dami Im's entry 'Sound of Silence' which was runner-up in 2016. Kate Miller-Heidke said "... it's a decision out of my hands. But London would get my vote - I lived their for two years previously". Australia, bookies second favourite to win on the night however, was unsuccessful in winning the contest as the battle came down to Sweden and The Netherlands which saw Duncan Laurence take the trophy. The nation have successfully gain a place in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest ever since their participation was granted in 2015.
